Senior Advisor for Gothenburg Horse Show

Do you want to be at the center of one of the world's most iconic equestrian events – and be part of making history again? Gothenburg Horse Show is entering an extraordinary phase with its 50th anniversary, triple World Cup finals, and an exciting future in development. We are now looking for a top-class Senior Advisor who wants to play a crucial role in taking the event to the next level. This position is a consultancy assignment starting in May 2026 until March 2028, with a chance for extension!

This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong international reputation in equestrian sports, a broad network, and a passion for creating world-class experiences – both on and off the arena.

About the Position

Gothenburg Horse Show is one of the world's leading indoor equestrian competitions and is an annual event. Since its inception in the spring of 1977, over 3 million horse lovers have attended the event. The competitions are organized by Got Event AB on behalf of FEI, the international equestrian federation, and the Swedish Equestrian Federation. We also collaborate with the equestrian fair EuroHorse at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. The focus is on world-class sport and competition, but also on creating a gathering place for inspiration, joy, and community. The mix of competition classes and audience-friendly show activities is highly appreciated by the audience. Gothenburg Horse Show continuously strives to develop the event and create even better experiences for our visitors.

In preparation for the Gothenburg Horse Show (GHS), we are looking for a highly experienced specialist to take on the role of Senior Advisor before and during the competitions in 2027 and 2028, with the possibility of extending for an additional two years. GHS is entering an expansive and strategically important period during 2027 and 2028, characterized by planning and implementation of the GHS 50th anniversary and triple World Cup finals in 2027, followed by adapting the event during a construction period starting in 2028.

Your Main Responsibilities

The role of Senior Advisor includes the following:

  • Assist the GHS organization in tasks defined by the project manager based on GHS needs at any given time.
  • Actively participate in the further development of the event and support the organization as a spokesperson in media on sporting issues.
  • Be the event's advisor in crisis communication and, if necessary, bring in subcontractors.
  • Monitor the external environment on behalf of the event and represent the event in international networks and forums.
  • Keep track of developments in national and international equestrian sports.
  • Assist Got Event in adapting and developing the event during a construction period of a new arena, focusing on sports and logistics issues.
  • Assist Got Event in other business development as needed and agreed upon.
  • Support the GHS sponsorship function, contributing to recruiting new sponsors through your own network.

Who Are You?

To succeed in this role, you are a person with good leadership qualities, able to handle stressful situations and see solutions instead of problems. You have high social competence and find it easy to interact with different types of people. We also see that you are structured with good collaboration skills and a willingness to develop. Of course, you have a passion for equestrian sports, and a broad network within the equestrian community is highly valued.

We expect you to meet the following requirements:

  • Higher education or equivalent in events, equestrian sports, and/or project management.
  • At least 15 years of experience as a competition leader for international equestrian events and/or similar assignments.
  • Very good knowledge and understanding of equestrian sports nationally and internationally.
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
  • Experience from assignments within national/international equestrian federations.
  • Experience from commercial assignments is an advantage, as well as experience in renovations, urban planning, and/or logistics.
  • Experience from assignments in business development and larger change projects is desirable.
  • Knowledge of and network in the event city of Gothenburg is an advantage.
